All Saskatchewan College of Podiatrists (SCOP) Members are expected to maintain a professional level of standards in all endeavors pertaining to their practice. The Saskatchewan College of Podiatrists consider complaints about their members a serious matter. When you file a formal complaint with the College, you are requesting an in-depth examination of professional behaviour or care provided by the podiatrist.
Prior to formally submitting a complaint, please be aware that:
- The College cannot determine negligence or assign compensation payments.
- There is no time limit for filing a complaint.
- If the subject of the complaint is a former member, complaint proceedings must begin no more than two years after expiration of membership.
Deciding when to make a complaint:
- Patients are strongly encouraged to discuss any concern they have about a specific podiatrist with the podiatrist in question. This can help them understand your concerns and often misunderstandings can be easily resolved with a simple dialogue between the two parties.
- If all options and efforts have been exhausted to reach a satisfactory resolution, you can file a complaint with the College.
Filing a formal complaint:
- Download, review and complete the digitally fillable SCOP Complaint Reporting Form
- Complete the report with as much detail as possible
- Ensure any/all additional documentation requested is available
- Ensure all digital signatures requested are authorized
- E-mail the completed form and any additional attachments to SCOP’s Professional Conduct Committee at complaints@scop.ca
